Resumen

Associativity emerges as an opportunity to strengthen competitive business models and overcome barriers such as business deficiencies, economic crises, and the impacts of globalization. Despite governmental and private efforts, its adoption has remained restricted. This article undertakes an exploration of the inclination of entrepreneurs and managers towards collaboration, using a qualitative-descriptive approach. Semi-structured interviews were conducted within the framework of the project "Cultural Influence on the Perception of Failure in SMEs in Bogotá," with a sample consisting of 17 entrepreneurs and 12 managers. In the content analysis, the "abacus of Regnier" method was applied. The results reveal a declining trend in the perspective of collaboration, owing to prevalent distrust, lack of knowledge about associative modalities, and expectations of governmental support. Fear of rejection by SMEs also exerts influence. The conclusion is reached that associativity is underutilized for collectively addressing managerial issues in various commercial spheres and its legal structure. This results in a limited notion, primarily confined to small and medium-sized enterprises.
