The Learning Management System (LMS) market has grown significantly, offering diverse options for delivering educational programs. Choosing the right LMS requires a comprehensive analysis covering multiple dimensions. This study adopted a comparative case study approach between two LMS, Canvas and Moodle, using a comprehensive matrix with over ninety criteria, grounding its analysis in existing literature and applying evaluative criteria based on recognized standards in the field of educational technologies. The methodological purpose focused on evaluating economic, technical, and organizational aspects to provide informed guidance to educators in selecting the appropriate platform. The results indicated that both platforms provide adequate tools to promote the realization of high-quality educational processes, although with substantial divergences in their approaches: Moodle is characterized by its methodological versatility, allowing various pedagogical approaches, while Canvas stands out for its user orientation, facilitating the generation and utilization of resources. The research provides a decision-making guide, emphasizing these distinctive characteristics and adding value to the LMS implementation process in higher education.
