Resumen

. The objective of this study is to analyze the impact of artificial intelligence tools on university students' academic performance, controlling for individual, educa-tional, and technological characteristics. The research adopts a quantitative meth-odology based on an Ordinary Least Squares econometric model with a log-linear specification, with the natural logarithm of academic performance as the depend-ent variable. The empirical analysis is based on primary information collected through a structured survey applied to 360 students from public and private uni-versities in the Norte de Santander region. The results show that the use of artifi-cial intelligence has a positive and statistically significant effect on academic per-formance. Likewise, variables such as hours of study, educational level, internet access, and age show significant relationships with academic performance, while gender has differentiated effects. The model shows an adequate overall fit and meets the main assumptions of the OLS after applying standard econometric cor-rections. It is concluded that artificial intelligence acts as a complement to tradi-tional educational inputs, enhancing learning efficiency when properly integrated into academic activities. The study provides empirical evidence to support the de-velopment of policies to improve academic performance through AI.
